Fearful to wake the world
I walk on my tippy-toes
to the kitchen and make coffee.
The machine sounds like you
waking up, dissatisfied murmurs.
And suddenly, just like that
I’m reminded of why I always
wanted a quiet, little French press.
They say all dogs
go to heaven.
I can just imagine
your perfect paws
leaving their prints
on fluffy, white clouds.
And happy tail wags
setting loose stardust
when you finally catch
the elusive dream rabbit.
Pulsating
inside me,
this incredible
hunger.
Never felt
so alive
before.
Heartbeat
in every
fingertip,
the rhytmic
ache to touch,
demanding
to be sated.
And after everything
you still disappeared,
escaping consequences.
Like a hushed whisper
that gets lost in the wind.
Enshrouded in lacey darkness,
moonlight drips through
the ceiling of a dense forest.
At first glance you might think
there can be no life in such place,
this is what desolation looks like.
Underneath the impression,
somehow, countless forms exist
and thrive in absolute solitude.
I wait patiently,
love dripping
out of me like
melted sugar.
You take your
time, always
carefully
unraveling
my inhibitions.
Will I ever know
what happy
looks like
or is it just
for show?
Aren’t dreams
supposed to grow
or should we
just throw
them all away?
